Time Zone Used Throughout the Order: Local (MDT)

SITUATION:

1. Enemy Forces:

   a. Weather: Idaho is typically hot and dry, with warm days and cool nights. Expect average high temperatures around 91°and average low temperatures around 59°. Rainfall is minimal, with an average of only 0.24 inches throughout the month, usually in the form of light, sporadic showers.

   b. Terrain: Boise, Idaho is situated in the Treasure Valley, a narrow, roughly 40-mile-wide section of the Lower Snake River Valley. It sits at an elevation of 2,704 feet above sea level in the downtown area. To the northeast of the city, the Boise Mountains rise dramatically. These are often referred to by locals as the Boise foothills, and they are a subrange of the Idaho-Bitterroot Rocky Mountains. The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery lies at the base of these foothills.

   c. Enemy Forces: Foreign or home-grown terrorists provide an on-going threat to US metropolitan and tourist areas.

2. Friendly Forces:

   a. Thiede family and friends.

   b. All 37th Armor Alumni (to include spouses) are invited to the ceremony.

   c. Buglers Across America bugler.

MISSION:

37th Armor Alumni deploy to Boise on 07AUG2025 to attend 08AUG2025 funeral and Celebration of life for SGM (R) Timothy Thiede in order to honor him and provide support to his family.

EXECUTION:

1. Intent: Alumni attend the funeral and Celebration of Life of SGM (R) Timothy Thiede in order to honor a distinguished member of the regiment and provide comfort and support to his family. We will accomplish this by assembling at both the graveside service and later the celebration of life and, with our dignified and unified presence as members of the regiment in which he faithfully served, convey to family and friends the esteem in which he was held and the distinguished character of his service. We will minimize costs to participating Alumni by using rental vans for transport, utilize lodging that provides shuttle service to the airport, and obtain the best possible lodging rate. At end state Alumni return to their home stations having honored SGM (R) Thiede, supported his family, and demonstrated to all 37th Armor Alumni the mutual respect and honor in which we hold members of our regiment.

2. Concept. This operation will be conducted in four phases: Preparation Phase, Deployment Phase, Memorial Phase, and Redeployment Phase.

   a. The Preparation Phase begins with issue of this order and concludes at 06AUG2400 MDT. During the Preparation Phase the following actions will occur.

      i. Posting of is order NLT 23JUL1800 MDT to the 37 Armor website.

      ii. Signup of those attending NLT 03AUG2400 MDT.

      iii. Confirmation with Thiede family that a bugler is desired and if needed, tasking of Fiddlers Green to provide.

      iv. Completion of agreement with Boise Airport Holiday Inn for block of 10 rooms.

      v. NLT 04AUG2400 MDT 2-4 vans reserved to provide transportation from Holiday Inn to Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Celebration of Life at Thiede Home, and back to Holiday Inn on 8 Aug.

      vi. Alumni designated to serve as drivers.

      vii. Continuous liaison maintained between Coordinator, 4-37 AR and Thiede family.

   b. The Deployment Phase begins at 07AUG0001 MDT and ends at 07AUG2400 MDT. During this phase the following actions will occur.

      i. Alumni arrive in Boise via their own privately arranged means and use Airport Holiday Inn shuttle for movement to Airport Holiday Inn.

      ii. Alumni check in to Airport Holiday Inn.

      iii. Alumni register wi 37 Armor designated rep in the lobby.

      iv. Designated Alumni pickup rental cars.

      v. No host social time in hotel bar at 1900 MDT.

   c. The Memorial Phase begins at 08AUG0001 MDT and concludes at 08AUG2400 MDT. During this phase the following actions will occur.

      i. Drivers spot vans in front of Holiday Inn lobby at 08AUG0945 MDT EDT.

      ii. Alumni board vans NLT 08AUG0955 MDT for 08AUG1000 MDT SP.

      iii. Vans arrive at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery (10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise) NLT 08AUG1040 MDT.

      iv. Alumni attend internment ceremony for SGM (R) Thiede, from 08AUG1100 MDT to approx 08AUG1200 MDT, with designated Alumni rep making presentations to Thiede family at point to be designated by funeral director / Thiede family.

      v. Buglers Across America bugler plays taps during ceremony at point designated by funeral director.

      vi. Following ceremony at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Alumni will move in vans to Celebration of Life at Thiede residence (9772 W. Cascade St, Boise). Exact Time of Celebration of Life TBD.

      vii. Following conclusion of Celebration of Life, Alumni move in vans to Airport Holiday Inn.

   d. The Redeployment Phase begins at 09AUG001 MDT and ends with Alumni having safely returned to home station.

      i. Designated drivers return rental vans NLT 09AUG1000 MDT.

      ii. Alumni checkout NLT 09AUG1100 MDT.

      iii. Coordinator, 4-37 Armor posts AAR to 37 Armor FB page NLT 11AUG1800 MDT.

3. Tasks

   a. 4-37 Armor Coordinator

      i. Prepare OPORD in order to be posted to 37 Armor web page NLT 25JUL1200 MDT.

      iii. Secure lodging that provides best value and shuttle transportation to Boise Airport

      iv. Secure rental vans in order to minimize transportation costs to Alumni.

      v. Coordinate wi 37 Armor leadership for designation of drivers for rental vans.

      vi. Maintain continuous liaison with Thiede family.

      vii. As required, prepare FRAGOS to this OPORD.

      viii. Capture costs and provide to 37th Armor Alumni leadership.

   b. Fiddlers Green Coordinator:

      i. Be prepared to coordinate with Bugles Across America for bugler for 08AUG1100 MDT ceremony at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Final determination if bugler is needed will be made NLT 25JUL2400 MDT.

      ii. Provide Regimental Rep Regimental Flag, Regimental Coin, and Regimental Condolence Card to designated Regimental Rep NLT 04AUG1200 MDT.

      iii. In coordination with 4-37 Armor Coordinator, capture all costs associated with this event.

   c. 37th Armored Regiment Coordinator:

      i. Designate Regimental Rep for 08 Aug activities.

      ii. ICW 4-37 AR Coordinator, identify drivers for rental vans.

      iii. Present Alumni Coins to those participating in their first event.

      iv. Capture names of those attending their first event.

4. Coordinating Instructions

   a. Alumni desiring to participate must register at the 37th Armor Alumni Association website, https://www.courageconquers.com NLT 03AUG2400 MDT.

   b. Any purchases / expenses for which Association compensation is expected must be pre-approved by 37th Armor Association Coordinator.

   c. All Alumni interested in linking up with each other and sharing comradery are invited to a no host social at the hotel bar at 1900 on both 7 and 8 Aug.

   d. All alumni attending will receive one 37th Armor reunion credit, with those attending their first event to receive an Alumni Coin.

   e. Uniform for participating Alumni is business casual.

LOGISTICS:

1. Lodging: A block of 10 rooms at a rate of 129.00 per night is available at the Airport Holiday Inn, https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us/en/boise/boihi/hoteldetail?cm_mmc=GoogleMaps-_-HI-_-US-_-BOIHI under “37th Armor Alumni.” (2970 West Elder Street, Boise, ID 83705). Offer covers the evenings of 7 and 8 August. Cutoff for making reservations is 28 Jul in order to get the guaranteed rate. To make reservations call the Holiday Inn at either 208-344-7444 or 986-206-5355 and ask for the front desk for reservations. As an alternative, reservations can be made online using 37th Regiment Armor Alumni.

2. Transportation: Transportation by air, rail or auto is an individual Alumni responsibility. Alumni should plan to arrive in Boise NLT 07AUG2000 EDT to complete check-in and registration. Transportation to event sites will be via rental vans procured by 37th Armor Alumni Association at no cost to Alumni. Airport Holiday Inn provides shuttle service to and from Boise Airport.

3. All meals will be paid for individually. Restaurant and bar service is available at the Airport Holiday Inn.
